Cisco Anyconnect Deakin

  • Using the Casual Plan System from non-Deakin networks. For the best experience, we recommend using the Casual Plan System while connected to the Deakin network. Of course, this is not always feasible. If you must submit or approve casual plans remotely, connect your computer to the Cisco AnyConnect (VPN) before you open the Staff Data Portal.
  • The Server you are attempting to access can only be accessed from inside the Deakin network. If you are off-campus and require access to this server, please connect to the VPN to continue. To setup a VPN connection, refer to one of the following instructions: Establishing a secure (VPN) connection to Deakin using Cisco AnyConnect (Windows).
  • Cisco AnyConnect (VPN) – Start Before Logon (SBL) As of July 2020, Start Before Logon (SBL) support has been added to Cisco AnyConnect VPN. This service will allow users to log into Deakin computers, where they have not logged in before, while the computer is off campus (i.e, New computers and computers that have been re-imaged recently).

Cisco AnyConnect is automatically installed on all managed staff laptops.

Cisco AnyConnect is Deakin’s secure VPN service. The AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is pre-configured with Deakin’s connection profiles and is required for students and staff on personal or University-owned un-managed devices in order to establish a secure VPN connection to Deakin University.

New in the April 2019 update is the option to encrypt your internet traffic on an untrusted network, such as public Wi-Fi hot-spot, which sends it through Deakin’s connection to the internet rather than the hot-spot. Or use the unencrypted option to use your own home internet access while accessing Deakin services and resources.
