Signal Path

In a mobile communications system, the radio signal path through the air is subject to multiple reflections, and the signal from the transmitter to the receiver can travel different distances and thus the same signal can reach the receiver with different strengths and delays in time. If I is an AC current this can result in noise added to the signal path in component 2. In effect the ground current 'tricks' the component into thinking it is in the signal path. Sources of ground current. The diagrams at right show a typical ground loop caused by a signal cable S connecting two grounded electronic components C1 and C2.

The panes in the Master Section window correspond to the processing blocks of the Master Section.

Signal Paths

The signal passes through these blocks from top to bottom:

  1. Audio from WaveLab Cast

  2. Effects

Reordering the effect slots affects the signal path.

  3. Resampling

  4. Master Level

The Master Section meters monitor the signal between the Master Level pane and the audio hardware or file on disk.

  5. Audio hardware or file on disk

In the Master Section, the signal passes all plug-ins, even if some plug-ins are soloed. However, the sound is not affected by this because the muted plug-ins are bypassed from the playback process stream.
