A green bubble = Android in iMessage, but in the eyes of some iPhone users, a green bubble = poor person. In a way, The Verge is right to say that the best way to not experience that kind of. In my first post I indicated it was between iPhones. I realize a green text bubble indicates an android and iMessages uses blue between iPhones. The user previously had a cheap android pay as you go thru Verizon. I purchased the iPhone 6s plus for her and added it to my account at a Verizon corporate store, and transferred and kept her same number. You may have noticed that some of your iPhone text messages have either a blue or green background. A blue background means that the message exchange is happening via iMessage with another iOS device (an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, etc). These messages are sent through your cellular provider's data network or via WiFi (no cell service needed), and text message rates don't apply A green. A green indicator means either the camera or the camera and the microphone are being used by an app on your iPhone. If you see blue, green, or red in the status bar

On iPhone X and later, the color shows as a bubble behind the time. On iPhone 8 or earlier, the color goes all the way across the status bar. Here's what each color means:


Your iPhone is either providing a Personal Hotspot,* Screen Mirroring, or an app is actively using your location.


Your iPhone is either recording sound or your screen.

* For Personal Hotspot on iPhone 8 or earlier, you can also see how many devices joined your hotspot. appears in the status bar of iOS devices using Personal Hotspot.

If you see orange or green indicators in the status bar

With iOS 14, you might see an orange or green indicator in the status bar on your iPhone. These indicators appear when the microphone and/or camera are being used by an app.

An orange indicator means the microphone is being used by an app on your iPhone.

A green indicator means either the camera or the camera and the microphone are being used by an app on your iPhone.
